I'm Martinka

I was born in August 2017 in Slovakia. Already during my pregnancy, my mother and I underwent surgery in utero in Belgium for a diagnosis of cleft spine.

They stopped my brain swelling and my head got back to normal by the end of the pregnancy. I came into the world prematurely, by caesarean section and spent a month in an incubator. So I've been a warrior since I was born! My current diagnosis is paralysis of the lower body without the possibility of controlling the lower extremities.

Hope never dies!

After my discharge from the hospital, my parents began to visit the Vienna Orthopaedic Clinic, where they used plastering to align my legs in the correct position. Now I have a series of operations to facilitate mobility in my ankles and hips.

If everything goes well, I will be able to do the sitting position in time. Unfortunately, these surgeries and rehabilitation treatment will be financially beyond the capabilities of my parents. And the commercial loan they applied for by the bank was denied to them.

Help from a family in the Czechia

Part of my family lives in the Czechia and specifically my godfather arranged the establishment of a sponsorship sub-account through Charta 77 and its Konto Bariéry.

It is a partner that has been dedicated to helping people with various physical disabilities for decades.

Thank you to all donors

And so I wave to all of you – to those who want to contribute and to those who will at least share my story further.

Every small gift brings me closer to the dream my parents have – to live a happy and mobile life as much as possible.
